1 Day Leshan Giant Buddha

Highlight:

From every angle, you'll marvel at the scale and craftsmanship of the world's largest and tallest stone statue, carved into the sandstone cliffs at the confluence of the Min and Dadu Rivers. It looks great from the water, and from the top you'll appreciate the intricacy of the carvings, as well as the beauty and significance of the stunning natural site directly facing Mount Emei. Built over 1200 years ago and taking 90 years to complete, the statue rises 71 meters above the river.

Itinerary:

Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu at 8:30 am and drive two hours to Leshan Giant Buddha. (Our guide will contact you in advance to confirm the pick-up time).

From the river boat tour, you will learn about the scale of the construction and the dedication and skill involved in carving the statue when viewed from the feet. Take time to absorb the wonder of the statues and the beauty of the surrounding cliffs, mountains and waterways.

After a lunch break, you can spend two hours climbing to the Buddha's Head and Lingyan Temple. From the top, you can enjoy large, magnificent views and, on a smaller scale, the architectural details that reveal how the twisted buns on the head were individually crafted and installed. No wonder it took 90 years to build.

Your tour of the Leshan Giant Buddha comes to an end when you are transferred back to your Chengdu hotel at around 5:00 pm.
